Christ removes Sins Dominion

Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. NKJV

From the very moment of human birth, the countdown to death begins. There is at work in this world a law of sin that leads to death. When Adam disobeyed God, immediately the law of sin and death entered into the world. All of humanity is under this law and bound by it. There is a principle in the law of sin and death that puts every man or woman under the controlling power of sin. Sin rules and reigns in every human life without exception. This is why the Apostle Paul could say earlier in the Book of Romans that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” and the little word “all” includes every person ever born from the poorest to the richest and the weakest to the most powerful. The Ten Commandments were given to mankind later on by God only to show man how utterly sinful we are and move us to look outside of ourselves for deliverance.

Now 2000 years ago a new law was introduced into humanity when Jesus Christ willing left Heaven, was born of a virgin, lived a perfect sinless life, allowed Himself to be beaten, crucified, and buried in a tomb, and He rose from the dead 3 days later proving that He was God (the God-man). The law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus is when He (Christ) raises a spiritually dead soul to life in Himself and makes that person a partaker of His Divine Nature. The Apostle Paul states it this way in Ephesians 2: And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

This law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus is so radical and transforming that it breaks the power of cancelled sin and sets the sin sick soul free from sins overriding dominion in the person’s life. Salvation is not what is so commonly referred to as being saved from hell, that is just the by product or the icing on the cake, true salvation in Jesus Christ only is being delivered (in this earthly life) from the gripping dominion of sin produced by the law of sin and death. The Lord Jesus proclaimed in His very famous Sermon on the Mount that He did not come to destroy the Law or the Prophets, but He came to fulfill the Law and what the Prophets spoke. The Law of God is holy and it is perfect and it bears no blame for it was not given to man to save him but to condemn him. The problem was never with the law but the law was weak on account of the weakness or sinfulness of human beings. Therefore, our Lord Jesus Christ had to take on human flesh and completely fulfill the law as a man which no other man ever did or could ever do, thus satisfying all of the law’s requirements in Him. This is where the GREAT EXCHANGE is made possible, we give Jesus Christ our sin to bear and He gives us His unsullied righteousness by placing His NATURE within all those who come to Him in repentance and faith Hallelujah!

“The covenant of grace made with us in Christ is a treasury of merit and grace, and thence we receive pardon and a new nature, are freed from the law of sin and death, that is, both from the guilt and power of sin - from the course of the law, and the dominion of the flesh. We are under another covenant, another master, another husband, under the law of the Spirit, the law that gives the Spirit, spiritual life to qualify us for eternal. The foundation of this freedom is laid in Christ's undertaking for us.” Matthew Henry
