Letter to the Hebrews Volume 184

Sacrifices Pleasing to God Part 11

Hebrews 13:13-14 Let us go forth therefore unto Him without the camp, bearing His reproach. For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come. KJV

The most important thing that we as followers of our Lord Jesus Christ can do is to declare the truth to the rest of humanity and the most important truth that they need to here from us is that Jesus Christ and His shed Blood on Calvary is the ONLY acceptable sacrifice for their sins to God the Father (John 14:6). This is what will take us outside of the ๐Ÿ• camp of the old Jewish system, but we will be outside of the ๐Ÿ• camp of all the other ways people believe will get them to heaven or the more common phrase repeated by billions of human beings over many centuries and millenniums is 'they are in a better place', for how they got there is never articulated, yet they are magically there when they die. We who know our Lord Jesus Christ, know that this is fallacy, fantasy, and foolishness. So, when we declare the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and proclaim that He ALONE is the only Atonement for their sins before a Pure, Perfect, and Powerful God, then we will feel the sting of being outside of the camp bearing His reproach, just as the writer of Hebrews declares to us with these words, "Let us go forth therefore unto Him without the camp, bearing His reproach. For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come." (Hebrews 13:13-14) (KJV). The little English phrase 'let us go forth' is translated by the Greek word exerchomai which means to depart (out of), escape, get out, go forth, proceed forth, spread abroad. The English word 'camp' is translated by the Greek word parembolē meaning a throwing in beside (juxtaposition), that is, (specifically) battle array, encampment or barracks. The English word 'bearing' is translated by the Greek word pherō̄  is a primary verb (for which other and apparently not cognate ones are used in certain tenses only, meaning to bear, carry, endure, or uphold. The English word 'reproach' is translated by the Greek word oneidismos meaning contumely, that is, abuse, insult, revilement: - reproach. In other words, when we are awakened from our spiritual stupor by the Grace of God, we see the world that we continue to live in (as the remaining time is all according to the will of God) through an entirely different set of eyes.

No longer are we concerned by, carried away with, or consumed by the shiny trinkets of this ๐Ÿ—บ world, but we see the things of this world ๐Ÿ—บ in their true light of soon destruction and we see all other human beings as we once were, asleep spiritually and it is our only responsibility to use the things of this world ๐Ÿ—บ to spread the Gospel of Grace as far as we can do so, praying that God the Holy Spirit brings many souls out of their spiritual stupor's  just as He has done with each and everyone of us who believe in our Lord Jesus Christ, for we remember the words of our Brother in Christ the Apostle Peter when he wrote, "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9) (KJV). God became a Man in the Person of Jesus Christ and willingly allowed Himself to be physically brutalized in His human flesh, so that He would be the Perfect sacrifice for the sins of any human sinner that would come to Him ALONE for the forgiveness of their sins. So, how much more shall we bear the reviling, rebuke, and reproach of all who resist, refuse, and reject Him as their ONLY sacrifice for sin and wallow in the ๐Ÿ‘ฟ devil's lies that all roads lead to God and that the good ๐Ÿ•‰️ Hindu, the good Muslim, the good Buddhist, and the good Spiritualist or any of the other numerous religious and spiritual beliefs that are all ๐Ÿคฅ lies propagated, proclaimed, and promoted by the ๐Ÿ˜ˆ devil to lead the souls of men and women down a dark path of eternal destruction without or Lord Jesus Christ as their mediator between them and God, just as the Apostle Paul ๐Ÿ›‘ stopped to say these words to Brother Timothy, "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus; Who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time." (1 Timothy 2:1-6) (KJV).

Here is what Albert Barnes had to say of Hebrews 13:13-14, "As if we were going forth with Him when He was led away to be crucified. He was put to death as a malefactor. He was the object of contempt and scorn. He was held up to derision, and was taunted and reviled on His way to the place of death, and even on the Cross. To be identified with Him there; to follow Him; to sympathize with Him; to be regarded as His friend, would have subjected one to similar shame and reproach. The meaning here is, that we should be willing to regard ourselves as identified with the Lord Jesus, and to bear the same shame and reproaches which He did. When He was led away amidst scoffing and reviling to be put to death, would we, if we had been there, been willing to be regarded as His followers, and to have gone out with Him as His avowed disciples and friends? Alas, how many are there who profess to love Him when religion subjects them to no reproach, who would have shrunk from following Him to Calvary! We do not regard this as our final home, or our fixed abode, and we should be willing to bear reproaches during the little time that we are to remain here. If, therefore, in consequence of our professed attachment to the Saviour, we should be driven away from our habitations, and compelled to wander, we should be willing to submit to it, for our permanent home is not here, but in heaven. The object of the writer seems to be to comfort the Hebrew Christians on the supposition that they would be driven by persecution from the city of Jerusalem, and doomed to wander as exiles. He tells them that their Lord was led from that city to be put to death, and they should be willing to go forth also; that their permanent home was not Jerusalem, but heaven, and they should be willing in view of that blessed abode to be exiled from the city where they dwelt, and made wanderers in the earth."

If you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ and His amazing healing power, pray this from your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ (you speaking directly to Him), Dear Lord Jesus, I confess to You that I am a sinner and I need Your forgiveness. I believe You shed Your Blood and died for my sins. I believe that You rose from the dead proving that You alone are God. I repent of my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I ask You Dear Lord Jesus to come into my heart and take control of my life. I want You to be my Lord, Savior, and my God. Amen...

Sincerely in Christ,

Clifford D. Tate, Sr.
