Letter to the Hebrews Volume 186

Sacrifices Pleasing to God Part 13

Hebrews 13:16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. KJV

Doing good in this world is not something that is foreign to human beings. Many people in the past and now in the present find it satisfying to themselves internally to do something to help out another human being, however, the motivation for doing good is not always so easily seen on the exterior. For example, many politicians throughout our country and the rest of the ๐Ÿ—บ world make a show of doing good deeds in the ๐Ÿ”ฐ beginning in order to get into the place of power and then to enrich themselves at the very expense of those same people that they did some token good deeds for to win them over. In our very next verse of this ✉ letter to the Hebrew converts to Christ back then and to each and everyone of us converted to Christ today and of every era and generation. The author of this ✉ letter does not want any of us to be confused as to our motivation for doing good and that is to please the One (Jesus Christ our Lord) who is satisfied with us when we do so to glorify Him and not to bring attention to ourselves or to get something for ourselves. Many people in the earth do good things, but their motivation comes not from God, but in most cases comes from the guilty conscience that lives within them that they are trying to silence by out numbering their bad deeds with good ones. We who now know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ know and understand that this attempt to keep a counting system of good deeds versus bad deeds can never be done accurately by any individual human being, however, God has the complete and accurate tally, but He does not use this to save people.

When the books are ๐Ÿ”“ opened by Him every man and woman (without Christ) is judged by what He has compiled, as it is written, "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works." (Revelation 20:12) (KJV). Therfore, when we hear these words from the ๐Ÿ“ writer of Hebrews, "But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased." (Hebrews 13:16) (KJV) we know that our desire is to please God with how we treat every human soul we encounter, even the two-legged ๐Ÿ˜ˆ devils being used by our enemy to hurt and harm us. This is exactly why men and women establish Youtube channels and write blogs and books ๐Ÿ“š as we pray and rely on God the Holy Spirit to teach and communicate to us the truth of His Word, so that we can communicate this truth of the Gospel of Christ out into the entire world because we know that all the ๐Ÿ—บ world needs Jesus Christ and that without Him they will suffer forever in hell/lake of ๐Ÿ”ฅfire, therefore, we do this good as the Apostle Paul wrote to the Galatian belivers, "Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith." (Galatians 6:6-10) (KJV).

Here is what Matthew Henry had to say of Hebrews 13:16, "We must, according to our power, communicate to the necessities of the souls and bodies of men; not contenting ourselves to offer the sacrifice of our lips, mere words, but the sacrifice of good deeds; and these we must lay down upon this altar, not depending upon the merit of our good deeds, but of our Great High Priest; and with such sacrifices as these, adoration and alms thus offered up, God is well pleased; He will accept the offering with pleasure, and will accept and bless the offers through Christ." Here also is what Albert Barnes had to say of Hebrews 13:16, "To communicate or impart to others; that is, to share with them what we have. The Greek word means having in common with others. The meaning is, that they were to show liberality to those who were in want, and were to take special pains not to forget this duty. We are prone to think constantly of our own interests, and there is great danger of forgetting the duty which we owe to the poor and the needy. He is pleased with the sacrifices of prayer and of praise; with the offerings of a broken and a contrite heart: but He is especially pleased with the religion which leads us to do good to others. This was eminently the religion of His Son, the Lord Jesus; and to this all true religion prompts. The word 'sacrifices' here is not taken in a strict sense, as denoting what is offered as an expiation for sin, or in the sense that we are by doing good to attempt to make atonement for our transgressions, but in the general sense of an offering made to God. God is pleased with this: (1) Because it shows in us a right state of heart; (2) Because it accords with His own nature. He does good continually, and He is pleased with all who evince the same spirit."

If you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ and His amazing healing power, pray this from your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ (you speaking directly to Him), Dear Lord Jesus, I confess to You that I am a sinner and I need Your forgiveness. I believe You shed Your Blood and died for my sins. I believe that You rose from the dead proving that You alone are God. I repent of my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I ask You Dear Lord Jesus to come into my heart and take control of my life. I want You to be my Lord, Savior, and my God. Amen...

Sincerely in Christ,
