Sex, Lies, and God’s Grace

Jude 1:4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. KJV

The 1960’s ushered in the free love or free sex era that carried itself strong into the 70’s. The 1970’s brought us the Supreme Court case of Roe vs. Wade that would forever change the direction of this country. Birth control pills for women were introduced to the society and it gave couples of every age the apparent freedom to have as much sex with as many different sexual partners without the fear of any un-wanted pregnancies.

Young people all over America were caught up into this phenomena and it helped to bring the pornography industry head long into the mainstream of society. People freely and openly used pornography as a means to enhance their sexual experiences, along with drugs and alcohol of course. No longer were the people in America willing to suppress their sexual urges, but on the contrary they fought to be accepted in doing whatever felt good to their flesh.

Then came the 1980’s and it seemed that the intensity of the free love and free sex movement had died down, but in reality it was so accepted that people never questioned sex by people that was outside of marriage. We had always had sexually transmitted diseases with us like gonorrhea, syphilis, herpes, and others, but at the beginning of the 1980’s a new disease began to emerge primarily among homosexual men called AIDS and this disease was deadly. Homosexual men were dying in rapid numbers and over short periods of time after their diagnosis. However, this did not deter the mainstream of heterosexual society from the vast promiscuity that had become so normalized in our culture, because AIDS was not perceived as a threat to heterosexuals.

Fast forward to 1989 and an unknown filmmaker/director named Steven Soderbergh released a movie (Sex, Lies, and Videotape) that would bring him into prominence in the Hollywood film industry and capture the pulse or heartbeat of our culture as it regarded sex in America. The movie tells the story of a man who videotapes women discussing their sexuality. The movie plot has everything you could imagine in relationships that are absent the controlling influence of the One True God, adultery, masturbation, various sexual fantasies, fornication, lust, pornography, and group sex. This film was viewed as being so relevant and even informative for the time that in 2006, Sex, Lies, and Videotape was selected and preserved by the United States National Film Registry as being deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."

All that was revealed above is completely understandable behavior for men and women devoid of the Spirit of God because the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. However, the Apostle Jude warns us (who love our Lord Jesus Christ) that we will be in a fight/battle for the true faith handed from our Lord to the Apostles to us. Our fight will be with natural men, but not natural men outside of the visible Church, but inside the visible Church trying to normalize behavior that our Lord Jesus condemns. Antinomians during Jude’s day asserted that God the Holy Spirit was not defiled by the sins of the body (sexual sins).

The lies about sex and God’s grace by the Antinomians of Jude’s day and the present day Antinomians was that because God’s grace and love abounds so infinitely that it matters not how we use our bodies in gratifying our sexual appetites, but it only gives God the ability to show even more of His grace and mercy to people. Jude used the English word turning to describe what these men do to the grace of God. The English word turning is from the Greek word metatithemi, which can also mean exchange, change sides, or pervert. God’s true grace is exchanged for lasciviousness which yields an unbridled license to commit all the sexually immoral sins in the flesh desired with the approval of God’s grace. Salvation is a free gift, but God’s grace is not cheap. Cheap grace presumes on salvation without repentance and even with a license to sin sexually without shame.    

This is the exact thinking and mindset that the world has of sexual behavior (as described above) and it is blasphemous to believe that the people Christ died for would exhibit that same mentality after receiving so great a salvation. Paul refuted that view of God’s grace in Romans 6:1-2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? NKJV Certainly Paul meant here all sin even sin committed by the body in any sex outside of marriage. Those who teach these lies and live them out in their own personal lives are captivating people, very charismatic, great orators, and able to convince people of their sincerity.

We know what drives those who are still dead in their trespasses and sins to continue in a life filled with sexual lust and sexual gratification of all kinds and that is being under the influence and control of the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience (satan). The audacity of these men (still under the control of satan) to creep into the visible Church then teach, preach, proclaim, and promote their sinful lustful desires to the true children of God as if it were from our Lord Jesus shows the utter hatred, disdain, arrogance, and rejection of God’s Sovereign authority written on their hearts. Wrong doctrine will always produce wrong lifestyles or living. It is much easier to gain a large following if you corrupt the truth about the will of God for sexual behavior or just neglect it all together. Those who view God’s will for sex to be permissive (that is other sexual behavior outside of marriage) will never acknowledge that view upfront.

Listen to these comments on Jude 4 by Cooper P. Abrams III, “These false teachers portray themselves as wonderful people who love the Lord, all the while denying the Lord Jesus by their false doctrines and practices. They appear outwardly to be genuinely godly people. These are not on the surface evil people, but people who appear very spiritual with special insights in God's word. Their charisma disarms people and causes people to follow them.”

“Jesus, in Matthew 16:6 warned believers to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees. Leaven in the Bible represents an evil influence that grows until it permeates the congregation. It perverts God's truth effectively limits God's ability to work. Leaven that is unchecked in a congregation prevents God's blessings and work. The Devil knows that God cannot bless false teaching, practices, and those who compromise His word, mixing truth with error. Therefore Satan's strategy is to send in unbelievers, as Jude says, who are "denying the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ" by their actions. Understand that publicly these deceivers outwardly claim to love God but actually are Apostates who do not believe God's word.”

“The ploy of Apostasy comes from those who profess Jesus as their Savior but deny Him by the lives they live. If a person claims to be a Christian and does not believe and live by God's word, he is denying Him. Such people do not fear God and have no appreciation for His person and righteousness. It is uncanny, but they live with a false sense of immunity from God's judgment of sin, which marks them as unbelievers.”

2 Corinthians 11:14 15 And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works. NKJV

Acts 20:28-31 Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. For I know this, that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. Also from among yourselves men will rise up, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after themselves. Therefore watch, and remember that for three years I did not cease to warn everyone night and day with tears. NKJV

2 Timothy 3:1-5 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! NKJV

Driven

Romans 8:20-22 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; because the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now. NKJV

Lions are perhaps one of the Lord’s most majestic creatures He placed on the earth. When they walk they appear so regal and stately. In their environment they have no natural predators and are considered the King of the jungle. I have always enjoyed learning about their behavior in the wild. I am often fascinated by the relentless way they stalk and pursue their prey. A pride of lions on a hunt will work together with precise detail and strategy in order to bring down prey 4 or 5 times its size. These big cats are very social (thus the formation of prides) where the other big cats are primarily solitary.

However, once the prey is caught and has been suffocated to death something happens to each lion as the feeding begins every individual lion of the pride that worked so closely together in unity to kill their prey snaps inside and is driven to violent displays of aggression clawing and biting one another for the consumption of the dead prey animal. It is as if for that period of time they are driven by something inside of them to hurt anyone of their pride members that would keep them from consuming as much of the meal as they possibly could consume.

You can see in their eyes that they lose all sense of any bond with their sisters, daughters, brothers, and mothers in their pride. They are driven by an internal desire filled with rage, greed, and selfishness until every individual is full or the carcass is completely consumed. Many of the weaker and smaller lions are hurt and sometimes even killed during this feeding frenzy. After the lions have eaten their fill, the violent drive subsides and they begin to groom one another by licking off leftover blood and bonding by rubbing heads together as if the violent drive during their feeding never occurred.

The fall of man thrust all of creation into this barbarian tail spin. Before Adam sinned lions and other big cats did not eat other animals, but only plants and other vegetation. The word futility in verse 20 of Romans 8 above is from the Greek word mataiotes, which means moral depravity. Adam’s sin plunged all of God’s creation into a perpetual downward decline away from everything good, right, true, and best. The whole of the animal kingdom has been deformed by the fall of man and this is why we witness the above behavior of lions.

The human race has suffered most from Adam’s disobedience, because we were originally made in the likeness of the triune God and unlike the animals we (individually) are somewhat aware of our corrupt moral condition due to the conscience we have been given and animals have not a conscience. The animals only function or operate from instinct that manifested itself after the fall.

Therefore, the person involved with sexual behavior that is outside of the will of God, experiences this type of inner conflict (similar to what is described above with lions at feeding), where something clicks or snaps inside of their souls and thus they are driven by such a strong and insatiable impulse that they lose all sense of reality. They care not that other people might be hurt, but they must satisfy this drive. The person that thinks that any drive within the soul must be natural or from God or approved by Him does not believe God exist or will not except the fact of man falling into corruption. The fact that the heart desires unclean things does not serve to normalize those things. Verse 21 in Romans 8 states that the whole creation is under bondage of corruption, which means slavery to decay and ruin.

Consequently this slavery to decay and ruin is the entire creation and specifically the heart of every individual human being. The Prophet Jeremiah tells us that man’s heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked. This heart that every human being is born with is the result of the fall and now is under bondage of corruption. This heart cannot be legislated into better behavior. There will never be laws with penalties harsh enough to change its conduct. There will never be environments that are better or more pristine to curb this hearts evil appetite. This heart is worthless, useless, and beyond repair. Sin is a heavy load bearing down upon the heart/mind of human beings unleashing guilt that cannot be quenched by awards, money, trophies, commendations, earthly gifts, earthly status, or any other temporal gesture or thing. The only solution for the person with this heart is for them to be given a new heart.

This is a quote from an earlier article (8/18/08) I wrote entitled “The King of Hearts”, “Christ comes to apply Himself directly where the root or seat of the problem is located and that is every human heart. If you have a sore on your left arm, you don't apply ointment to the right arm and expect it to cure the sore on the left arm. Likewise, Christ does not come to teach us how to behave better. On the contrary, He comes to change our behavior by changing our hearts. He instantly upon entrance into the heart becomes the King of Hearts to every soul that receives Him.” Jeremiah 31:33 “I will put My law within them, and on their hearts will I write it; and I will be their God, and they will be My people.” (Quick Amplified Bible) Finally, we see that by the gospel (Christ supernatural birth, His death, burial, and His subsequent resurrection from the dead) the heart that is under the bondage of corruption is quickened (made alive to God) and given new affections/desires that radically differ from the un-quickened or unregenerate heart.

"Sanctification" — My Utmost For His Highest for 07/23/2012

Of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us ... sanctification. — 1 Corinthians 1:30

The Life Side. The mystery of sanctification is that the perfections of Jesus Christ are imparted to me, not gradually, but instantly when by faith I enter into the realization that Jesus Christ is made unto me sanctification. Sanctification does not mean anything less than the holiness of Jesus being made mine manifestly. The one marvellous secret of a holy life lies not in imitating Jesus, but in letting the perfections of Jesus manifest themselves in my mortal flesh. Sanctification is "Christ in you." It is His wonderful life that is imparted to me in sanctification, and imparted by faith as a sovereign gift of God's grace. Am I willing for God to make sanctification as real in me as it is in His word?

Sanctification means the impartation of the Holy qualities of Jesus Christ. It is His patience, His love, His holiness, His faith, His purity, His godliness, that is manifested in and through every sanctified soul. Sanctification is not drawing from Jesus the power to be holy; it is drawing from Jesus the holiness that was manifested in Him, and He manifests it in me. Sanctification is an impartation, not an imitation. Imitation is on a different line. In Jesus Christ is the perfection of everything, and the mystery of sanctification is that all the perfections of Jesus are at my disposal, and slowly and surely I begin to live a life of ineffable order and sanity and holiness: "Kept by the power of God."

Purify our Affections

1 John 3:3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure. NKJV

“When all of the components of the eye function properly, light is converted to impulses and conveyed to the brain where an image is perceived.” (www.pasadenaeye.com/faq) Our eyes are constantly being assaulted with images (some harmless and others harmful), if the harmful are downloaded and stored in the brain and then uploaded to the mind/heart, our mind/hearts will become dirty and out of it will flow the fruit of those images (fornication, adultery, pornography viewing, masturbation, etc.) in our actions. Our eyes do not control what they view, but only process what the mind/heart commands it to view.

Matthew 15:19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. NKJV

The Pornography Industry is dramatically designed and built on its imagery which draws, lures, and attracts men in large numbers because we are designed for the visual. Women are not immune to being attracted by the visual, but they are designed more to be drawn by emotional stimuli. Therefore, this industry, seeing its influence on the culture creating more unmarried women with high earning capabilities has transformed much of their product to include story lines and plots just as a typical Hollywood movie studio would produce.

I want to say to every man and woman out there reading this post that the Pornography Industry thrives to keep its victims in silence. The true founder and CEO of this industry (the devil) operates all of his activities in darkness and wants to produce guilt, shame, and fear to keep you trapped in this selfish loveless gutter. What would you do if some stranger came into your yard or home and took up your child or grandchild and attempted to take them away to harm them? Why, I’m sure you would fight with every ounce of strength in your mortal frame to free and rescue them from that evil perpetrator. In like manner, we must fight for our purity as if we were being assaulted or our children were being assaulted in the natural. We are being assaulted; our children are being assaulted everyday by this industry all around us in many different forms and disguises.

Proverbs 8:13 “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil.” NKJV  

Amos 5:15 “Hate the evil and love the good.” NKJV

We must have a holy hatred for evil and daily go on a mission to seek and destroy the things that would lure us away from intimacy with our Blessed Redeemer. We must by the power of the Holy Spirit let the Word of God dwell in our hearts so richly and mightily bringing all of our thoughts into captivity (slavery) to the obedience of our Lord, Master, and Savior Jesus Christ. This cannot be an option for us, we must see it as a necessity or else we die spiritually. Our old nature has not been improved and is still as vile as it was before our regeneration and new birth, therefore, it is our responsibility to mortify it (kill it; put it to death) regularly. Do you realize and understand that our loving, all sufficient Lord Jesus hates pornography and all associated with promoting it as good and using it to gratify lustful sinful pleasure. Perhaps you don’t believe this statement and think I am espousing my own hearts knowledge. Listen to these words: Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things the LORD hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren. NKJV

Notice first that pride is the root that bears the fruit of every kind of sin. Secondly, look at verse 18 and He says a heart and feet. Both the heart and feet belong to a person and is the object of the LORD’s hatred and are an abomination to Him. This is not my opinion or that of any other man or woman, but it is how the LORD sees them. Any argument you might have with me put it to rest and take it up with the LORD of Glory Jesus Christ.

Finally, how must we go about purifying our affections? We must fight by guarding what we watch through our eyes and what we listen to through our ears. The devil or no human instrument of his can force us to allow images and sounds that are unclean into our hearts. We have a choice every moment of everyday we are given to live down here on this earth. Our citizenship is in Heaven and we must live like the pilgrims, sojourners, and aliens Christ Jesus our Lord has made us. When a rug or carpet acquires a spot, a special cleaning product must be used to remove that spot. When once an unclean image has been taken in through the eye gate and treasured in the heart, it requires confession and repentance, and then the Spirit of God will use the Word of God to purify that heart afresh.

Psalm 119:9 How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. NKJV

"Mastery Over The Believer" — My Utmost For His Highest for 07/19/2012

Ye call Me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. — John 13:13

Our Lord never insists on having authority; He never says - Thou shalt. He leaves us perfectly free - so free that we can spit in His face, as men did; so free that we can put Him to death, as men did; and He will never say a word. But when His life has been created in me by His Redemption I instantly recognize His right to absolute authority over me. It is a moral domination - "Thou art worthy . . ." It is only the unworthy in me that refuses to bow down to the worthy. If when I meet a man who is more holy than myself, I do not recognize his worthiness and obey what comes through him, it is a revelation of the unworthy in me. God educates us by means of people who are a little better than we are, not intellectually but "holily," until we get under the domination of the Lord Himself, and then the whole attitude of the life is one of obedience to Him.

If Our Lord insisted upon obedience He would become a taskmaster, and He would cease to have any authority. He never insists on obedience, but when we do see Him we obey Him instantly, He is easily Lord, and we live in adoration of Him from morning till night. The revelation of my growth in grace is the way in which I look upon obedience. We have to rescue the word "obedience" from the mire. Obedience is only possible between equals; it is the relationship between father and son, not between master and servant. "I and My Father are one." "Though He were a Son, yet learned He obedience by the things which He suffered." The Son's obedience was as Redeemer, because He was Son, not in order to be Son.

Pornography is Evil

Isaiah 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! NKJV

Listen to what Matthew Henry (1662-1714) had to say about Isaiah 5:20, “Who confound and overthrow the distinctions between moral good and evil, who call evil good and moral evil (Isa_5:20), who not only live in the omission of that which is good, but condemn it, argue against it, and, because they will not practice it themselves, run it down in others, and fasten invidious epithets upon it - not only do that which is evil, but justify it, and applaud it, and recommend it to others as safe and good. (1.) Virtue and piety are good, for they are light and sweet, they are pleasant and right; but sin and wickedness are evil; they are darkness, all the fruit of ignorance and mistake, and will be bitterness in the latter end. (2.) Those do a great deal of wrong to God, and religion, and conscience, to their own souls, and to the souls of others, who misrepresent these, and put false colors upon them - who call drunkenness good fellowship, and covetousness good husbandry, and, when they persecute the people of God, think they do him good service - and, on the other hand, who call seriousness ill-nature, and sober singularity ill-breeding, who say all manner of evil falsely concerning the ways of godliness, and do what they can to form in men's minds prejudices against them, and this in defiance of evidence as plain and convincing as that of sense, by which we distinguish, beyond contradiction, between light and darkness, and between that which to the taste is sweet and that which is bitter.”

I want it to be understood clearly from the beginning that I speak here not of the pornographic films that are made by those who through violence force underage boys and girls to make these type movies. Nor am I focusing on those who blatantly make what is known as kiddy porn or child pornography. Be certain that it all is evil and trafficking children in the porn industry is universally despised in every part of the globe.

I want to focus on what is well known as adult pornography. This section of pornography is the most lucrative in sales and revenue earned and it has political power all over the world because people of all walks of life and socioeconomic backgrounds support it. Some estimate that the pornography industry worldwide is worth around 100 billion dollars. This number demonstrates to us the power this industry commands.

How could adults of legal age engaging in consensual sexual behavior be evil? This is a severe stumbling block to many people; it was to me for such a long time. I was once of that mind. Although I thought I knew the truth and was correct in my life’s direction, I believed that there was not any harm to a person who viewed pornographic materials in the privacy of their own home or hotel room. I did not connect or equate that behavior to the destruction of my soul. Although our human definition of evil is morally objectionable behavior, the majority of human beings find it very hard to place this genre (if you will) of pornography into this objectionable category as does the Word of God.

This industry has amassed billions of dollars today from its meager beginnings of selling magazines and movies underground. It has found its way into the mainstream of almost every society around the world. Children are being bombarded from the very womb with pornographic images all around them continually. Even the cartoons have become explicit in their language and sexual references. The pornographic magazines can be found today in corner stores, malls, and even grocery stores. The DVD’s can be purchased or rented in many bookstores and almost all of the places like blockbusters, etc. All of the cable and satellite providers offer pay per view X-rated movies and the movie channels such as HBO, Showtime, and others carry many movies filled with pornographic images 24/7. Every night on network television sexual images can be found.

We have in many circles of the world begun to call this evil good and this is what has opened the door for the industries huge growth. A Prophet of YAWEH (Isaiah) wrote about what had become of the hearts and minds of the people of Israel in a very similar manner way back around 700 B.C. He wrote in one section about how the people of Israel had gone into captivity (that is physically they were enslaved by a more powerful nation) because they had no knowledge and were judged by God because of their inability to discern the difference between good and evil. You see the pornography industry has one goal and that is to bring its users into captivity or enslavement to their product because this is what produces repeat customers and builds their financial empire.

“No one will strengthen himself who lives in iniquity.” (Ezekiel 7:13)

Only when a person is brought to the place of seeing pornography and the heart and mind that harbors it as sin and evil will that person be at the starting point of healing. Jesus Christ is the Great Physician and He only can wash a soul clean and give that soul new desires. If you are as I once was (a person trapped and enslaved by this sin and evil) don’t continue to rationalize your sinful behavior, but admit to yourself first that it is sin and evil that will dam your soul in the lake of fire forever, but repent and call upon my Lord, Master, and Savior and He will deliver you from the hand of the destroyer. Amen!!!

All who Live in Sexual Immorality will Perish

Luke 13:1-5 There were present at that season some who told Him (the Lord Jesus) about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. And Jesus answered and said to them, "Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than all other Galileans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they were worse sinners than all other men who dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish." (NKJV)

Our news headlines have been filled with some of the most horrific things humanly imaginable. We have witnessed the mass murders of people we consider to be innocent of such a thing happening to them. Our desire to understand these things has driven panel discussions of all sorts and yet there seems to be no definitive answers found. Our Lord was confronted with similar events that happened during His time down here on earth. His response was then I’m sure perplexing to His listeners then, as I believe it has been for the many generations since He spoke those words in Luke 13:1-5.

I believe that maybe one of the most hated and despised people that have made recent headlines for what is considered horrible sin is Mr. Jerry Sandusky. He is the former Penn State Assistant Football Coach that was convicted of molesting several underage boys over a period of as long as 15 years. He is now incarcerated because this country has laws against adults having sex with minor children, however, if Mr. Sandusky were having sex with teenage boys 18 or older, he would still be free today.

Does the age of the boys make his sin more intolerable? In the hearts and minds of many human beings it does, but how does God view his sin. Does Mr. Sandusky deserve hell for taking advantage of these young children the way he did? If the Lord Jesus were here on the earth today, he would say the same thing he did in Luke 13. Why? You see He is the same today, yesterday, and forever. He does not change His position, His nature, and His character because man increases over time in knowledge or human wisdom. He is The Lord and He changes not. Therefore, He would say to us today, do you think that Mr. Sandusky is a worse sinner than anyone else in America or the rest of the world who practices sexual immorality? No, he is not a worse sinner than all who practice sexual immorality.

However, we human beings having increased in knowledge over the many centuries, think that we are due different consideration because of how we perceive the times today. We have decided that we know better than an all knowing Creator who sees the past, present, and future as the same. No generation of man is more or less intelligent in His sight, but all generations are equally foolish and born in the same sin.

For example, we have people being interviewed by Gay and Lesbian Magazines like “Out Magazine” declaring that they are homosexuals and proud of their lifestyle. I read on the internet recently where Anderson Cooper one of the news personalities on CNN declared that he is a homosexual. I watched a great soccer game between the USA women and Japan for the gold medal with the USA winning the contest. The very same night one of the national news stations (NBC) did a story on one of the players, Megan Rapinoe detailing how she was interviewed by “Out Magazine” and declared she is a lesbian and that she wants to be a role model for young girls to feel comfortable being who they are. As I read the story of Anderson Cooper and watched the news story of Megan Rapinoe, I was saddened and immediately drawn to the words of my Lord, Master, and Savior Jesus Christ in Luke 13:1-5. How tragic it is for so many people like them to consciously or unconsciously consider their sinful lifestyle elevated above another sinful sexually immoral lifestyle because society in this era or generation has declared it acceptable.

All sexual immorality is sin and if it be sin un-repented of it will cause that soul to perish eternally. I know that this is strong medicine for our politically correct times and even considered hate speech in many circles. Despite all of that it is the truth directly from the Word of God. So many people think that they are showing God’s love to the Megan Rapinoes and Anderson Coopers of the world, but despite their misguided perception of God’s love they are not showing them love, but in reality they don’t really love them at all. Megan Rapinoe and Anderson Cooper are like a blind and deaf man and women walking toward a train track unable to see or hear the train coming down the track about to smash them. Look I used these two people as examples because of the tolerance today for this particular sexually immoral sin over many of the others. However, listen to the Apostle John in the last book of the Bible: Revelation 21:7-8 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." (NKJV)

Do you want to love people like Jerry Sandusky, Megan Rapinoe, and Anderson Cooper as the Lord Jesus loves them, then love them unconditionally as they are now and pray for them to be born again. I promise you that our Lord Jesus Christ is sending His true sons and daughters to each of them with the gospel and much prayer in the prayer closet for their conversion. He is doing the exact same thing for every soul trapped in all sexual immorality over this entire world.

I love people in the truth and this is why I must speak the truth as it is represented in the Word of God. There are no second chances after death and all people will not get into Heaven in the end (Universalism). No one still alive can pray for their dead friends or family to be saved from the sure judgment of God. The Bible clearly teaches that it is appointed for every person once to die and after that judgment. Listen again to the Apostle John in the last Chapter of the last book of the Bible: Revelation 22:11-15 He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still." "And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last." Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city. But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie. (NKJV)

What is the Will of God for Sex?

1Thessolinians 4:3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication. (KJV)

How often do we ask, “What is the will of God for me?” Well this verse tells us directly what God’s will is for us. The question we should ask ourselves is, “Do I want to do His will?”

Like many of you out in this vast world we live in, I grew up believing that God did not require a fixed standard when it came to sex and how we human beings should practice it. The biggest reason for that belief system was because I obtained most of my education, understanding, and knowledge about sex from television and not the Word of God. I cannot truly recall any true biblical teaching on the matter of sex in church, but I’m sure it was taught at some point on some level of my childhood. I had no ears to hear anyway. My parents grew up in an era, where I believe sex was not discussed with children (other than don’t do it until you marry) because of embarrassment possibly. It probably was done that way for many generations. Having said all of that, you and I still have an individual responsibility to come to the knowledge of the truth concerning this human reality of sex. Unlike the false or wrong things I learned about sex from television, there is truth about this issue we can only get from the Word of God.

In the Old Testament, the Bible is very candid about the sexual activity (good and bad) of many of the people revealed to us in its pages. I quite frankly have found some things to be somewhat disturbing or unsettling, but this is why God is Sovereign and in control and I’m not. Also, there have been many things in my own life I find very disturbing and yet my Lord, Master, and Savior Jesus Christ wants a daily intimate relationship with me despite my filth. This fills me with a desire to please Him in my body and spirit, which belong to Him now, to long for and seek out His grace to fill my life.

In the Book of Genesis, not long after Judah and his brothers betrayed their younger brother Joseph by selling him to slave merchants (Joseph would become Potiphar’s slave and he would flee from sexual temptation and his faithfulness landed him in prison, you can read about it in Genesis 39), we read that Judah had two sons that lived wickedly before the Lord and the Lord killed them both.

Now these things seem most sinful and disturbing enough, but we read on to find out that Judah while traveling to a city called Timnah, saw a prostitute (a woman he perceived to be a prostitute) along the road and went in to have sex with her. She made him give her his signet, his cord, and his staff to have sex with her and he gladly handed them over to satisfy his temporary lust. Judah did not know that this woman was his daughter-in-law and that she had conceived twin boys from this sexual encounter. What a monster sexual lust is and what disaster it reeks when the human heart gives in to it. The fact that God reveals to us the wrong sexual behavior of this man that He allowed (because He never forces man’s will) serves as one of the many testimonies of His Law of sowing and reaping. The will of God for sex was given to man soon after man’s creation, but our corrupted spiritual nature has distorted and perverted the original Godly intention and therefore, Judah, Sampson, David, Solomon, and you and I have chosen to reject the will of God for our own will.

I suppose that one of the most tragic things that has occurred over many centuries of the Church  is the misguided or felonious interpretation of what the Apostle Paul wrote here in 1 Corinthians 6:12 All things are lawful for me, but all things are not helpful. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any. (NKJV) The wolves in sheep’s clothing our Lord warned us about have used this text to advocate a licensed, licentious, and lascivious sexual lifestyle that brings about bondage to the participant and brings no Glory to our Lord Jesus, but rather brings reproach to His Name.

As we read on in this passage Paul (by the inspiration of God the Holy Spirit), anticipates this erroneous thinking and quickly repudiates it with these words: 1 Corinthians 6:13-20 Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods, but God will destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. And God both raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power. Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For "the two," He says, "shall become one flesh." But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him. Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. (NKJV)

You see God the Father knew before He founded this world what the nature or condition of man’s heart would be apart from Him reigning and ruling there. He saw the works of Judah, Sampson, David, Solomon, and you and me before we were ever conceived in our mother’s womb. However, many of us incorrectly look back at the lives of David or Solomon and think perhaps God sanctioned or even ordained the many wives and concubines that they had during their lives on earth, but this was not God’s will for them. You will not read anywhere in the Old Testament that God ordained this behavior, but only He allowed it because He will never force man’s will into compliance with His will. They suffered much from their disobedience.

Listen to what Jeremiah wrote: Jeremiah 17:9-10 The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings. (NKJV) He only gives to every man what that man wants, good or bad.

Therefore, if we go back to what Paul wrote above in 1 Corinthians 6, we read the fulfilled promise (the Holy Spirit who is in you) of what was to come for Israel (and that promise to Israel is true for every regenerated born again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, Jew or Gentile). The promise was given through Jeremiah and Ezekiel.

First listen to the Prophet Jeremiah: Jeremiah 31:31-34 Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah ---not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the LORD. But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more." (NKJV)

Now listen to the Prophet Ezekiel: Ezekiel 36:16-27 Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying: "Son of man, when the house of Israel dwelt in their own land, they defiled it by their own ways and deeds; to Me their way was like the uncleanness of a woman in her customary impurity. Therefore I poured out My fury on them for the blood they had shed on the land, and for their idols with which they had defiled it. So I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed throughout the countries; I judged them according to their ways and their deeds. When they came to the nations, wherever they went, they profaned My holy name --- when they said of them, 'These are the people of the LORD, and yet they have gone out of His land.' But I had concern for My holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations wherever they went. "Therefore say to the house of Israel, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "I do not do this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for My holy name's sake, which you have profaned among the nations wherever you went. And I will sanctify My great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst; and the nations shall know that I am the LORD," says the Lord GOD, "when I am hallowed in you before their eyes. For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land. Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them. (NKJV)

For hundreds of years the Jews had the Law of God but were never able to keep the Law because there was not in them any power to walk out that Law obediently. Perhaps we should sympathize with them seeing that they had no power in them to be obedient, but this is not completely true, because the law was never given to them to make them perfect (just as the new birth now does not make us perfect down here) but that they would be blameless before the Lord and we should walk in newness of life before the Lord Jesus (Romans 6:4). The Word of God speaks of Zacharias and his wife Elizabeth and says the following: Luke 1:6 And they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. (NKJV)

The Greek word used here to translate blameless is amemptos, which means, irreproachable; faultless; impeccable; not capable of sinning or liable to sin; not to bring disgrace or dishonor to God. This is a strong word and is used by Luke to convey what was the heart desire of the remnant in Israel before Christ birth and His death and resurrection. Despite the majority of Israel profaning the Holy Name of God by their perverse lifestyles, there was always a remnant among the majority who were blameless in His sight. As we know these two were blessed to become the parents of John the Baptist. Were they walking or living in sexual purity? Well, that’s what the text tells us and despite what was going on around them to the contrary of sexual purity, their love and reverence for God produced in them a desire for obedience, which was met by the Lord in their hearts.

Finally, how does all of this come together to define or bear witness of a true follower of Jesus Christ when it comes to sexual relations and God’s will for us today?  We have a better covenant under the New Testament since Christ death, burial, and resurrection from the dead. Listen to Paul in Hebrews 8:6 But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises. (NKJV)

The English word better is used twice in this verse and it comes from the Greek word kreitton, which means, stronger or more powerful. Going back again to 1 Corinthians 6:19 where Paul testifies of the promise Prophesied by Jeremiah and Ezekiel and that is the Holy Spirit in the true believer. The Lord Jesus said, “He (God the Holy Spirit) will guide us to all truth.” The Lord Jesus also prayed to the Father these words, “Sanctify them (true believers) with the truth, thy Word is truth.” Therefore, no true believer will rationalize their sexual behavior outside of marriage between Husband and Wife (both born again) in the Lord. Every person that lives outside of this truth continually and teaches others that they too can live this way, God the Holy Spirit is not living in them. God is love and His love is solely built upon truth and truth alone.

1 John 3:7-10 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. (NKJV)

The Lord tells us in Proverbs that all sexual activity outside of His will brings reproach to the person, wounds, and destruction of the soul (see Proverbs 6:32-33). He also clearly warns us not to go into the house of an immoral woman, because that place will lead to death and the depths of hell (see Proverbs 7:26-27). All of this applies equally to the woman and the immoral man.

If you love our Lord Jesus Christ, you will by His Spirit walk in sexual purity as your pattern of life and when you veer off into sexual sin of any kind, He (God the Holy Spirit will be grieved) and He will drive you back to the foot of the cross to repent (turn around) and go back to walking in the truth. This is God’s only will for His children and their sexual relationships as pilgrims, sojourners, and aliens on this earth. Once we were blind but now we see. Amen!!!

1 John 3:7-10 Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil. Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. (NKJV)

The Lord tells us in Proverbs that all sexual activity outside of His will brings reproach to the person, wounds, and destruction of the soul (see Proverbs 6:32-33). He also clearly warns us not to go into the house of an immoral woman, because that place will lead to death and the depths of hell (see Proverbs 7:26-27). All of this applies equally to the woman and the immoral man.

If you love our Lord Jesus Christ, you will by His Spirit walk in sexual purity as your pattern of life and when you veer off into sexual sin of any kind, He (God the Holy Spirit will be grieved) and He will drive you back to the foot of the cross to repent (turn around) and go back to walking in the truth. This is God’s only will for His children and their sexual relationships as pilgrims, sojourners, and aliens on this earth. Once we were blind but now we see. Amen!!!
