Journey through the Book of Romans

Paul declares that Christ died in the place of the Ungodly
Romans 5:6-11 For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation. NKJV

Paul now writes how this love of God operated for us or on our behalf. The love shed or poured out into our hearts by God the Holy Spirit is a result of God the Father loving us even while we were His enemy. Every cursing blasphemous profane word spoken from my lips as I used God’s Name in vain, He was right there present drawing me to the foot of the Cross of Jesus Christ my Lord. All the while that I was morally feeble and living in gross and vile depravity, this love of God was being shown to me by what Jesus Christ had already done on the Cross nearly 2,000 years ago as He died then for me as if I were the only sinner on the earth. The Lord Jesus was able to look those hundreds of years in the future and see me in my sin and reveal His love for me and to me by making me alive from being dead in trespasses and sins (Isaiah 53:6 & 1 Timothy 1:15-16).
Paul again declares the great truth that our Lord Jesus first spoke in John 3:16  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. NKJV Paul here tells how our Lord Jesus Christ died for us when we were vile, vicious, and volatile sinners in His Holy Presence. All of humanity is guilty before Him as sinners as we learned in Romans 3:23, therefore, He died for all sinners, but the free gift of salvation awaiting any and every sinner must be claimed. For example, all of the major airlines every year fly all over the world and year after year people leave luggage and it goes unclaimed by the person or persons it belongs to. So it is with the gift of salvation by what our Lord Jesus Christ did on the Cross. Century after Century and decade after decade and year after year and month after month and week after week and day after day people check out of this world by the way of death (Hebrews 9:27) that all people must travel and they do not receive the free gift of salvation from the Lord Jesus Christ that He purchased by His Blood on the Cross for every sinner ever born.

But praise God those of us who are drawn to our Lord Jesus Christ (John 6:44) not only have His Love for us poured into our hearts, but we also are saved from our sins and the power sin has over ever soul and we are finally saved from God’s Fiery, Forceful, and Fury or Wrath that He is going to pour out on this earth against all ungodliness and those people who refuse, reject, or resist salvation through the Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thessalonians 1:10 & Revelation 6:16). Paul declares that it is our Lord’s death on the Cross that brings us back into fellowship or relationship with God the Father (1 Timothy 2:5) and it is receiving His life into us that saves us from God’s Wrath against sin and the ungodly. Like a magnet draws other like property to itself so is God the Father drawing those who bear the Nature of our Lord Jesus Christ to Himself. But also likewise as a magnet repels materials away from it that does not bear the same properties so will God the Father do to those who do not receive the life of Jesus Christ through regeneration and the new birth (Titus 3:4-7).
Paul says that we boast and glory and rejoice in God because our Lord Jesus Christ has set our souls into proper alignment as if a Doctor would set a man’s broken bone so that it can heal or mend properly. This is the work our Lord Jesus Christ has done for us and in our souls setting it or reconciling it and bringing us into harmony with God the Father or restoring our souls to Divine favor by the life He gives each of His redeemed sons and daughters (1 John 3:9 & 2 Corinthians 5:18-19). This great work of sacrifice and love done for morally depraved, ungodly, and vile sinners such as we are when received freely produces a heart so overflowed and filled with love and gratitude that words cannot rightly express how grateful we are for being reconciled by His Precious Blood (Ephesians 2:13 & Hebrews 9:14).

“A creed is the road or street. It is very good as far as it goes, but if it doesn’t take us to Christ it is worthless.” D. L. Moody
“Non-Christians seem to think that the Incarnation implies some particular merit or excellence in humanity. But of course it implies just the reverse: a particular demerit and depravity. No creature that deserved Redemption would need to be redeemed. They that are whole need not the physician. Christ died for men precisely because men are not worth dying for; to make them worth it.” C. S. Lewis

“Christ died He left a will in which He gave His soul to His Father, His body to Joseph of Arimathea, His clothes to the soldiers, and His mother to John. But to His disciples, who had left all to follow Him, He left not silver or gold, but something far better - His PEACE!” Matthew Henry
“I wonder how many believers today realize that faith is not merely believing that Christ died for our sins. Faith is also being confident that His way is better than sin. His will is more wise. His help is more sure. His promises more precious. And His reward more satisfying. Faith begins with a backward look at the cross, but it lives with a forward look at the promises.” John Piper

“Christ is never fully valued, until sin is clearly seen. We must know the depth and malignity of our disease, in order to appreciate the great Physician.” J. C. Ryle
“Christ is the Good Physician. There is no disease He cannot heal; no sin He cannot remove; no trouble He cannot help. He is the Balm of Gilead, the Great Physician who has never yet failed to heal all the spiritual maladies of every soul that has come unto Him in faith and prayer.” James H. Aughey

“Outside of Christ, I am only a sinner, but in Christ, I am saved. Outside of Christ, I am empty; in Christ, I am full. Outside of Christ, I am weak; in Christ, I am strong. Outside of Christ, I cannot; in Christ, I am more than able. Outside of Christ, I have been defeated; in Christ, I am already victorious. How meaningful are the words, ‘in Christ.’” Watchman Nee
If you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ and His amazing healing power, pray this from your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ (you speaking directly to Him), Dear Lord Jesus, I confess to You that I am a sinner and I need Your forgiveness. I believe You shed Your Blood and died for my sins. I believe that You rose from the dead proving that You alone are God. I repent of my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I ask You Dear Lord Jesus to come into my heart and take control of my life. I want You to be my Lord, Savior, and my God. Amen...

Sincerely in Christ,
