Reflections for October 2, 2011

John 11:44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with grave clothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go. (KJV)

This is a picture of all humanity from physical birth bound in the grave clothes of sins enslavement until Christ Jesus speaks to our souls and the enemy of our souls (the devil) when He (Christ) saves us from sin (Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.) Christ says, “Loose him devil and let him go he now belongs to Me forever.”

Proverbs Chapter 2
This entire chapter of Proverbs is a rebuke to me most recently and it now has become a splendor of restoration from the wrong path back to seeking the wisdom of my Heavenly Father. Psalm 51:6 Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom. (KJV) Job 38:36 Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? Or who hath given understanding to the heart? (KJV)

In this Proverb, He speaks of His commands as treasure. When we think of treasure we think of gold, silver, or paper money. How temporal are those things, but the Word or commands of the Lord Jesus Christ are forever. When we desire wisdom from the Lord’s Word the same way we go after earthly treasure, then we will discover what it really means to fear God by the knowledge and understanding of His Word. Rightly understanding our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and His Word is our shield protecting us from evil men, woman, and false pathways. His Word will make us careful and cautious in our decisions. Knowledge and understanding of the Word only comes by diligent and prayerful reading and studying of His Word. What we discover from His Word will keep or guard us from those who are crooked, deceitful, and who leave the right pathway for the temporal pleasures of sin. Their ways lead to death and they will be soon destroyed from the earth. But those of us who fear the Lord and keep or stay in the paths of righteousness will dwell on the new earth with the Lord forever.
Fear the Lord, the Lord and his goodness, Hos_3:5. Reverence a God of such infinite power, fear to offend him and to forfeit his goodness, keep up an awe of his majesty, a deference to his authority, a dread of his displeasure, and a continual regard to his all-seeing eye upon you.” By Matthew Henry
