Jesus Gives His Own His Peace

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. NKJV
We human beings define peace with the following words: 1) Harmonious relations; freedom from disputes. 2) The absence of mental stress or anxiety. This is the peace people seek and they are willing to pay large sums of earthly money to attain this peace. Doctor’s write prescriptions every single day to multiplied millions of people to relieve their stress and anxiety and they and the Pharmacist are making millions at the expense of sinful humanity. If there were ever any person capable of making a pill that could instantly eliminate a person’s stress and anxiety the whole world would run after him and they would sell everything they owned to purchase that pill. Of course we know that this will never be possible, although the scientist like to believe in their finite minds that they can produce anything. People have been searching for the so called fountain of youth for millenniums now and have never been able to stop or reverse the aging process in the human body. It is always the desire of the sinful and worldly heart of man to live forever in the pleasure of sin indulging it over and over. It was God that created the human body in all of its complexities and no created being is going to usurp its Creator.

The absence of peace in the hearts of men and women is due to the sinful and wicked heart/inner man each one of us is born with. There are no pills or injections present now, in the past, or in the future that will cure a sinful heart of its tumult. The Prophet Isaiah was given this revelation from the Lord and said, Isaiah 48:22 “There is no peace,” says the LORD, “for the wicked.” NKJV It is the world (under the dominion of sin, darkness, and the devil) that prescribes these so called pleasures that promise peace and tranquility but instead deliver death and destruction. People have always run to the bottle of wine or some other alcoholic drink looking to it to give peace from the stresses and daily problems of this earthly life. We talked earlier about the legal prescription drugs that many run to hoping to find peace, but there are many who take the illegal drugs like methamphetamines, cocaine, marijuana, heroin, crack, crank, LSD, opium, and others believing that in them they will escape into an alternate reality and find the peace their sinful hearts so desperately longs for. There are many who practice so called medicinal methods like acupuncture, hypnosis, philosophy, yoga, transcendental meditation, and other similar practices seeking that highly coveted inner peace that seems to constantly elude them. All of these pursuits for peace are either man made or of satanic origin and never yield anything but sorrow, sadness, and sickness (Isaiah 57:20).
In the previous Chapter 13 of the Apostle John’s gospel, he records for us our Lord Jesus having just humbled Himself and washed the disciples feet and also identifying His betrayer Judas Iscariot, and giving them the command to love each other as He had loved them, and now He makes this extraordinary promise to them of giving them His peace. The Greek word our Lord used was the word eirene, which literally means quietness, rest, or to be set at one again. The Lord’s peace given to each one of us is not some holy injection or pill that instantly erases all of our stress or anxiety or that cause us to be in great relationships with every human being free from all disputes (Romans 12:18). His peace given to His children is that rest and quietness in the inner man that comes first from the result of having our sins washed away by His blood (Revelation 1:5) and us knowing that we are forgiven forever (1 John 5:13) and this quiets the soul from the turmoil that is the result of the dominion of sin in the heart. His peace is one of the many parts of His Nature we receive from Him when we receive Him by way of the new birth (2 Peter 1:4). We see in the documentation given to us from Dr. Luke in his writing the Book of Acts that all of these men including later on the Apostle Paul all suffered tremendous persecution at the hands of the Jewish religious rulers, yet none of these things could rob them of their peace received from our Lord Jesus Christ. The peace He gives to us sustains us and sets us whole internally enabling us to bear up under the most difficult of circumstances.

Out of all the Old Testament Prophets I can relate to Jeremiah the most and I am sure that he was given a good helping of this peace from our Lord Jesus Christ as he stood before a whole Nation of rebellious people bent on killing him and shutting his mouth from proclaiming the truth. Our Lord will forever give His peace to us to carry us through this life filled with spiritual warfare warring for the souls of lost sisters, brothers, cousins, children, and others to be rescued from the clutches of the wicked one and brought into the bosom of Christ Jesus our Lord. His peace strengthens us with might in our inner man removing agitations brought on by our enemy and keeps us continuously moving forward despite the tendency for us to be fearful His peace gives us strength for fear. His peace goes far beyond the ability of the human beings little finite mind to comprehend (Philippians 4:7) but we experience the results or the effects of His peace working internally in us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. It is the carnal man described above that works death into his life daily by the continual holding onto sin, but we who have received our Lord Jesus and love Him are working out the salvation He implanted in us and that is producing life and peace for us and in us (Colossians 3:15). His person is our peace because to know and to love Jesus Christ is the greatest blessing for any sinful soul (Ephesians 2:14).
Psalm 29:11 The LORD will give strength to His people; The LORD will bless His people with peace. NKJV

Psalms 85:10 Mercy and truth have met together; Righteousness and peace have kissed. NKJV
Psalms 119:165 Great peace have those who love Your law, And nothing causes them to stumble. NKJV

ALL THINGS IN JESUS
Friends all around me are trying to find
What the heart yearns for, by sin undermined;
I have the secret, I know where ’tis found:
Only true pleasures in Jesus abound.

All that I want is in Jesus.
He satisfies, joy He supplies;
Life would be worthless without Him;
All things in Jesus I find.
Some carry burdens whose weight has for years
Crushed them with sorrow and blinded with tears.
Yet One stands ready to help them just now,
If they will humbly in penitence bow.

No other name thrills the joy chords within,
And through none else is remission of sin.
He knows the pain of the heart sorely tried.
Both need and want will by Him be supplied.
Jesus is all this poor world needs today.
Blindly they strive, for sin darkens their way.
O to draw back the grim curtains of night,
One glimpse of Jesus and all will be bright!

If you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ and His amazing healing power, pray this from your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ (you speaking directly to Him), Dear Lord Jesus, I confess to You that I am a sinner and I need Your forgiveness. I believe You shed Your Blood and died for my sins. I believe that You rose from the dead proving that You alone are God. I repent of my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I ask You Dear Lord Jesus to come into my heart and take control of my life. I want You to be my Lord, Savior, and my God. Amen...

Sincerely in Christ,
