Jesus Divides Humanity

Matthew 10:34-36 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man’s foes shall be they of his own household. KJV

Many world leaders are always searching for methods and ways to bring the people groups of the world together that man might live in harmony. The United Nations was formed to bring the leaders of every nation together in one setting periodically so that it could act as one body and regulate the nation’s activities militarily, economically, socially, and even morally to prevent unjust actions within nations and nations acting unjustly toward other nations. Many people of different religions are coming together to understand each other’s beliefs and find common ground where unity can be developed. The idea of understanding what other people believe will give validity to every faith based organization and prevent some of the intolerance that is manifested from those outside of the different faiths. We need but read prayerfully our Lords words in Matthew Chapter 24 to realize that all the political maneuvering, world summits, or peace summits and peace treaties will never produce harmony between nations and various faith groups can never be in harmony as long as they differ on the person and work of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ just completely smashes the notion or idea of people in the world who believe, think, and by those belief systems live differently getting along or coming together in unity. How hard do His words sound of pitting a son against a Father? If faith in Jesus Christ will even divide earthly families, how ridiculous is it to ever think that humanity will ever come to a place of living in harmony with one another. Our Lord says that no one who comes to true saving faith in Him by what He does through regeneration and new birth can ever come together with the people of the world or with people of different faiths. For the man or woman that has not spent much time reading the Gospels, it might even be hard to believe that the Lord Jesus Christ said that He did not come to bring peace on the earth but rather a sword, war, or division. However, every word from our Lord is complete truth and what He said has been manifesting itself from His birth until this very moment.

Luke 2:34-35  And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary His mother, Behold, this Child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against; (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed. KJV

While humanity is working hard to form a one world unity and create a family of nations that all accept each other’s differences and still get along, the Lord Jesus Christ came to draw a line of demarcation, a separation of sheep from goats as a Shepard does with his flocks, as the night is separate from the day, so is the work of God the Holy Spirit calling out of the world a new creation or race of humanity that will be distinct from the rest of humanity. The distinction will reach into every area of human life right down to the family.

I have heard or read many testimonies of people coming to Christ and coming out of Hinduism or Islam and immediately their lives were threatened. I recall the testimony of one young man in Africa (his family were Muslims) and he had our Lord Jesus speak to him in several dreams and finally he heard the gospel received the Lord and was born again and was so excited to know the Lord and have all his sins forgiven. The young man despite the prospect of attack from his family went to his Father to testify to him that he had met the Lord Jesus Christ and that Jesus Christ is God and Allah is no god at all.

The young man’s Father told him that he must renounce this foolishness or else he would die at his Father’s own hand. The Father was going to force the young man to drink poison. The young man did not renounce our Lord but went to Him in prayer and our Lord heard his prayer and when he was forced to drink the poison that would have normally killed a man within hours, he only got a bad stomach ache. Of course his Father could not understand why his son did not die, but he did not try to kill him again. This is just one story of hundreds, thousands, and perhaps millions that are played out in humanity in every generation and solidify the truth spoken by our Lord in Matthew Chapter 10. There is only peace between all men and women that have been reconciled by the blood of His cross regardless of tribe, kindred, tongue, or nation.

Colossians 1:19-20 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in Heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. NKJV

Mark 3:31-35 Then His brothers and His mother came, and standing outside they sent to Him, calling Him. And a multitude was sitting around Him; and they said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers are outside seeking You.” But He answered them, saying, “Who is My mother, or My brothers?” And He looked around in a circle at those who sat about Him, and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.” NKJV

“Sinners want their will to be done, and they will fight with whoever gets in their way. Consequently, sinners are much better at making war then they are at making peace, much better at hatred than they are at love. They are much better at causing division then they are at creating unity.” Paul David Tripp

“The idea of preaching the gospel to all nations alike, regardless of nationality, of internal divisions as to rank and color, complexion and religion, constituted the beginning of a new era in history. You cannot preach the gospel in its purity over the world, without proclaiming the doctrine of civil and religious liberty,--without overthrowing the barriers reared between nations and clans and classes of men,--without ultimately undermining the thrones of despots, and breaking off the shackles of slavery,--without making men everywhere free.” Albert Barnes

“By faith we are taken into Christ, made at once safe from holy wrath against sin, and kept safe from all perils and penalties. He, our divine Redeemer, becomes to us the new sphere of harmony and unity with God and His law, with His life and His holiness.” A. T. Pierson

“One hundred religious persons knit into a unity by careful organizations do not constitute a church any more than eleven dead men make a football team. The first requisite is life, always.” A. W. Tozer

“Unity without the gospel is a worthless unity; it is the very unity of hell.” J. C. Ryle

If you do not know the Lord Jesus Christ and His amazing healing power, pray this from your heart to the Lord Jesus Christ (you speaking directly to Him), Dear Lord Jesus, I confess to You that I am a sinner and I need Your forgiveness. I believe You shed Your Blood and died for my sins. I believe that You rose from the dead proving that You alone are God. I repent of my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I ask You Dear Lord Jesus to come into my heart and take control of my life. I want You to be my Lord, Savior, and my God. Amen...

Sincerely in Christ,
