False Brethren. or Not?

Jude 1:19 These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit. NKJV

We human beings have come up with the following saying, “Don’t judge a book by its cover”, it is a metaphorical phrase which means "you shouldn't prejudge the worth or value of something, by its outward appearance alone”. However, just the opposite is true when it comes to how the One True and Living God see things. For example the Lord Jesus Christ says in, Matthew 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. KJV Our Lord alone knows the true heart condition of every person upon this earth of His.

Dateline (an NBC News Documentary) had a two hour story about a United Methodist Pastor who lost his wife in an apparent car accident one night with the Pastor at the wheel. As the investigation began to unfold, it began to appear more and more that the accident was not the cause of death for the Pastor’s wife. Well, to make a long story short, it was not only discovered that the current wife did not die by car accident but that apparently the Pastor beat his wife to death and staged the car accident. Also it was discovered that his first wife’s apparent death from a fall down some basement stairs many years earlier was also not an accident but that the Pastor had also beat her to death. Upon the confiscation of the Pastor’s computers, it was found that for many years (dating back to the 1970’s) he had many affairs with other women and an extensive pornography collection as well. Whether or not this Pastor is a true born again Christian and fell into corruption for a season (as the Prodigal Son our Lord told us about) is only known by our Lord. But this is a confirmation of the Word spoken by Moses when he said to people in the wilderness, “Be sure your sin will find you out.”

2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: "The Lord knows those who are His," and, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity." NKJV

Sin is the corruptive disease that afflicts all human beings; however, the new race of humanity created by our Lord receives the cure for the disease. God the Holy Spirit indwells every true believer and therefore, that person cannot go on in sinful corruption and have pleasure in it. The man or women who still find pleasure in sinful behavior must be a false brother or sister. The clergy in many denominations that desire to ignore the truth of Scripture and ordain practicing homosexuals as Pastor’s ministering the Word of God to others are acting in a rebellious and divisive manner desiring to please the sensual and disregard the truth. Everyone void of the Holy Spirit cannot do anything but satisfy their 5 senses. This is why the new covenant is a better covenant, which literally means a stronger covenant than the first. When the Law of God is no longer on the outside of a man or woman, but it is now written in the heart and placed in the mind of that man or woman (by the indwelling Holy Spirit) then an entire new disposition is manifested and that produces entirely new and different desires (holy desires).

Romans 16:17 Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. NKJV

1 Corinthians 2:14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. NKJV

It is not the men and women who truly love our Lord Jesus and are connected to Him by birth who wreak havoc but those not having the Spirit of God who do so. For example, gay marriage has split the Presbyterian Church, many predominately black Churches have split over that issue and the Presidents support of it, the Anglican, Lutheran, Episcopal, etc. all have been split because of this one issue that God has clearly defined in His Word as sin that requires repentance just as all other sin our Lord details in His Word. The lust of human flesh is powerful and cannot be subdued by mere human effort, but it requires the Divine Intervention of God the Holy Spirit. When our Lord Jesus Christ bowed His head on the cross and said, “It is finished” first and foremost He meant the payment for man’s sin is complete and done, but He also meant that the power of sin over all who would repent and believe the gospel is destroyed by Him.

Romans 8:2-4 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. NKJV
