Heavenly Bath

Revelation 1:5 “And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood” KJV

The idea that one needs to take a hot bath after being exposed to a job or any activity that makes them extremely dirty goes without saying. No one enjoys being in the presence of someone that reeks of odor due to not having bathed. Although there are cultures that consider bathing a non-essential element of their daily life, it still is more widely accepted in the world at large to be clean by bathing. It is often time not a cultural practice, but only due to the circumstances or conditions one may have to live under from birth.

When God looks upon mankind, He sees every culture filthy to the core. Not the dirt of the body that requires washing with water, but the dirty filthy heart we all inherited from our first parents Adam and Eve. Every person needs to be washed cleaned internally that we may be able to approach God with a clean heart capable of pleasing Him. Therefore, there is a Heavenly bath that is drawn and prepared for every filthy soul that desires to have their sinful heart washed clean and made new.

It is because of His great love for sinners that He seeks them out that He might wash them clean in His Blood. The phrase “washed us from our sins” could also be stated “loosed us from our sins”. The Lord Jesus Christ has emptied His Divine Blood and there is now a fountain flowing continually where any filthy sinful heart can be washed cleaned. As the water and soap cleans the body from the pollution of the dirt on it, so does the blood of Jesus Christ cleanse and purifies our souls from sins polluting and corrupting operation.

Hebrews 9:13-14 For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? NKJV

“Love was the cause of washing, and not washing the cause of love; hence it appears that they were in themselves filthy, and unclean through sin; and that they could not cleanse themselves by anything they could do; and that such was the love of Christ to them, that He shed his precious blood for them, which is a fountain opened, to wash in for sin, and which cleanses from all sin.” Dr. John Gill

“In math, if you divide an infinite number by any number, no matter how large, you still have an infinite quotient. So Jesus' love, being infinite, even though it is divided up for every person on earth, is still infinitely poured out on each one of us!” Charles Spurgeon
