Persistent Prayer

It is so often hard to continue to lift up the same prayers to the Father petitioning His Divine Intervention in our lives and the lives of those we are praying for, whether they are family or perfect stranger. But the Lord Jesus told us a parable in Luke 18 of a woman who continually went to an unjust judge that she might get justice from him for her adversary and that he heard her petition finally not for the eloquence of speech or words but for her continual coming to him for justice. The point the Lord wanted to bring home to us is that if this unjust human being finally answered this woman because of her persistence, then how much more will a loving and merciful Father hear me His son and any of His other children who come to Him day and night with their petitions in accordance to the Word of God.
1 John 5:14-15 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. NKJV

Praying for the salvation of a soul is never outside the will of God because our Lord said for the purpose of seeking and saving the lost is the reason He left Heaven to become a man and die on a cross and rise again. However, knowing this to be true still does not take away the two problems we have when we pray and that is first we have an enemy trying to stop our petitions to the Father and second we want all our prayers to be answered instantly and we don’t understand the Sovereign will and timing of God the Father. The answers may be delayed from our perspective but from His they are always answered at the precise moment in time ordained for His purposes. Prayer should be for us like breathing from our natural bodies a matter of continual communication. When George Mueller prayed for nearly 60 years for the salvation of someone, I’m sure he did not understand after the 25th year why the Lord had not answered with the visible evidence of the persons regeneration and new birth, but he too read Luke 18 and believed the Father and kept lifting up his petitions every day for another 30 plus years. Now that is persistence.
“I live in the spirit of prayer. I pray as I walk about, when I lie down and when I rise up. And the answers are always coming. Thousands and tens of thousands of times have my prayers been answered. When once I am persuaded that a thing is right and for the glory of God, I go on praying for it until the answer comes. George Mueller never gives up!” George Mueller

“Jesus Christ carries on intercession for us in heaven; the Holy Ghost carries on intercession in us on earth; and we the saints have to carry on intercession for all men.” Oswald Chambers
Dear Father I pray for my heart to be strengthen with might in my inner man by You Dear Holy Spirit that I may be persistent in prayer for those I’ve been praying for their conversion for years now and if I never see what I perceive to be the visible manifestation of their salvation, may You give me grace upon grace to trust You that You have heard and have answered my petitions not for my prayers sake but that it would bring Glory to Your Holy Name Lord Jesus. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ my Lord Amen and Amen!

Sincerely in Christ,
