Who are the Children of God?

John 11:52 And not for that nation only, but that also He should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad. KJV

As I was able to finally watch the entire movie “Jerusalem Countdown”, I was again reminded of how perplexing the true gospel of Jesus Christ is to those who are perishing. The movie is primarily about the end times as given to us by the Apostle John in the Book of Revelation. However, there is a married coupled portrayed in the movie and both were dead in trespasses and sins during a period of years of their marriage, but the wife heard the gospel message and was born again. She immediately began to pray for and witness to her still lost husband who just could not understand at all what happened to his wife. He knew and acknowledged to her that she had truly changed for the better, but he did not understand what happened. He spurned her witness continually often with vehement rebuke, disdain, and even contempt. But she had become a child of God and now knew the truth about his eternal condition without Christ.

Job 15:14 What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous? KJV

Job 25:4 How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman? KJV

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. KJV In this Scripture, the phrase “shall call upon” is from the Greek word epikaleomai, which literally means to invoke (request earnestly (something from somebody); ask for aid, help, or protection; to worship. The gospels are filled with people who came to our Lord for help, aid, and worshipped Him prior to receiving healing from leprosy Matthew 8:2, or having a daughter raised from the dead Matthew 9:18, or the Syro-phenecian woman coming on behalf of her demon-possessed daughter Matthew 15:25. These and many others like them given to us in the gospels all picture the response of a true repentant sinner seeking forgiveness or healing from the hand of God.

In this scenario depicted in the movie, the husband finally sees himself as a sinner and cries out to the Lord Jesus for forgiveness, for help, for aid and he is born again and not much time afterwards the rapture takes place and he is caught up with his wife to be with the Lord Jesus Christ forever. In this scenario this man never ever entered a building called a Church, he never had the opportunity to witness his faith to one person, he never gave any money to charity or for the work of the gospel, he never ever deed any good deeds at all but he was taken up with the Lord. I am drawn instantly to the thief on the cross next to our Lord Jesus and unlike this movie scenario that scene was reality TV at its very best.

There was also another similar condition portrayed in the movie of a Father and daughter. The Father had been a child of God for a long time and had prayed for his daughter from her birth that she too would become a child of God. God the Father has no grandchildren only children. However, as portrayed in the movie, the girl becomes a grown woman and is still not a child of God, but this does not stop her Father from lovingly praying and witnessing the truth to her on every occasion he gets. The daughter never is born again and then the rapture takes place and her Father is taken up to be with the Lord Jesus Christ to forever be with Him and she is left on the earth to face the Great Tribulation and then sees what her Father had been witnessing to her for many years is in actuality the truth. This is just a movie but these scenarios play out in everyday life day after day and year after year. The rapture of Christ invisible Church has yet to take place, but thousands of people die every day having been prayed for and witnessed to for years by family and others (who are born again and children of God) desiring to see them become a child of God but they either reject or resist the Lord Jesus Christ and at death their eternal torment begins to never end.

God is not the Father of all humanity. There is no such truth as the Universal Fatherhood of God. He is only the Father to those he adopts into His family by a spiritual birth John 3:3. It matters not what anyone has done, being baptized, Church membership, giving money to various causes, as Oprah said being loving, kind, and generous does not matter only what God has done for you through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and what He has done to you by being born again. The Lord Jesus Christ is working throughout the earth realm now through the Holy Spirit gathering all of His elect children and they are going about proclaiming His gospel and Him as the One True God and through His faithful children He would continue to gather up all of the remaining elect children until the last one comes in and then Christ will return to judge this world in righteousness.

John 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. KJV

1John 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not. KJV

“We must keep from sin. If Christ has indeed saved us from sin, we cannot bear the thought of falling into it. Those who take delight in sin are not the children of God. If you are a child of God, you hate it with a perfect hatred, and your very soul loathes it.” Charles H. Spurgeon
